Cinema and Audiovisual Centre

The main mission of the Cinema and Audiovisual Centre is to encourage and support the creation, dissemination and promotion of audiovisual media in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, with respect to the diversity of genres and audiences

The Cinema and Audiovisual Centre exercises its powers, among others, in the following areas:

•     Support for the creation, promotion and dissemination of audiovisual works of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation;
• aid granted pursuant to the decree of 10 November 2011 regarding support for cinema and audiovisual creation;
• the management and monitoring of the contribution of publishers and distributors of audiovisual media services to the production of audiovisual works provided for in the decree on audiovisual media services coordinated on 26 March 2009;
• The management of the RTBF special fund to support co-production between producers of audiovisual works from the Walloon-Brussels Federation and RTBF;
• Co-management of the FWB-RTBF Fund for Belgian series to support the development and production of Belgian French-language fiction television series;
• The various international co-production agreements involving the Wallonia-Brussels Federation;
• The missions resulting from international agreements concluded by the Wallonia-Brussels Federation and the international texts to which it has acceded;
• The realization of any other tasks entrusted to it by the government in the field of audiovisual matters;
• It also provides the secretariat for the advisory commissions and councils regarding audiovisual matters : the secretariat of the FIlm Selection Commission , the Commission for Aid to Audiovisual Operators and the Consultation Committee of the Cinema and Audiovisual Centre.

The external revenue paid to the Cinema and Audiovisual Centre consists of the grant of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, the sums paid by publishers and distributors of television services in accordance with the provisions of the coordinated decree of 26 March 2009 on audiovisual media services, and finally, various inputs, including repayments of production advances.
